Data-Sharing Tool Kit for Communities: How To Leverage Community Relationships While Protecting Student PrivacyJason Smith 2017-05-25T09:45:15+00:00
The purpose of this tool kit is to inform civic and community leaders who wish to use shared data to improve academic and life outcomes for students while protecting student privacy. A key success factor in doing this well is understanding the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and its parameters relative to the sharing of personally identifiable information (PII) from education records.
This report describes developments in the new generation of cross-sector collaborations for education and presents findings from a scan of such initiatives across the United States.
The purpose of this paper is to explore some of the underlying problems that prevent current school reform effort from achieving sustained impact, and to describe a promising model of school improvement, called the Networked Improvement Community (NIC).
Large-scale social change requires broad cross-sector coordination, yet the social sector remains focused on the isolated intervention of individual organizations.
