What We Do

The work of the Bridging Richmond partners is to make sure that every person in the RVA has a chance to thrive in school, work, and life.  It is a growing partnership of regional institutions from education, business, nonprofit, government, and philanthropic sectors.  Partners engage their organizations in improvement projects in areas where they have the potential for high influence and high impact.  By focusing on measuring what matters, identifying best practices, and spreading what works, the community can maximize its investment in educational outcomes.

Approach

Bridging Richmond aligns closely with the collective impact model championed by StriveTogether. Different from collaboration, the collective impact model does not seek to layer on top of what’s already happening; instead, true alignment with shared vision, data, and action plans across organizations and sectors is integral to collective impact and improving outcomes in our region. The improvement projects draw on one or more of the following methods: use of real-time data for continuous improvement, policy changes, awareness campaigns, and mobilizing partners to collective action using best practices and aligned resources.

The Bridging Richmond Region

Bridging Richmond’s primary customers are the following 8 districts, represented by dark blue in the map: Charles City, Chesterfield County, Goochland County, Hanover County, Henrico County, New Kent County, Powhatan County & City of Richmond. Region 1 superintendents have also emerged as partners, and as such, our expanded region includes 7 additional districts (light blue). Depending on the work, we are able to support all districts; yet the deeper improvement efforts involves subsets of these districts.
